Love the smell of paintball in the morning...

WWW
« on: January 27, 2010, 02:21:55 PM »

So... I'm heading to the Vegas M&G, but I'm going out early... two days early. Planning on a loverly dinner and such with my mother on Wednesday then heading to the Lake Mead area for some hiking and stuff on Thursday.

I know BTV is planning something for Friday evening (the Pre Show..?), but is anyone else going out early that would want to get together Thursday evening or Friday during the day to hang out, do some sight seeing, etc...?

I'm arriving around 10 PM on Wednesday. I have plans for Thursday night, I am going to go see Terry Fator (he's been sold out on my last 2 Vegas trips). I am free at all other times! Let's do lunch!

After Wed, it's just me... Mom will be either at the craps tables or hanging with her own friends...

I'm planning on being back from my day-trip on Thurday by 7ish, so Linda, Amy... we could do a late dinner after Amy gets checked in at her hotel?

I'm staying at the Flamingo, couple blocks from the Platinum

Then a Friday lunch with T2 and Mel...?

Sounds good to me, folks!  We are on the same plane as Tammy.  OMG, are the skies up for two of us?!  I sure hope so!!
(We have a tendency to get a little rambunctious when we are together! Poor Tim).  Is there alcohol on this flight?  LOL just kidding

So we arrive Friday morning. Would love to do lunch cause I guarantee, the time we arrive and get settled, Melinda will be screaming FOOD FOOD FOOD!  Gots to have my planned meals or else I am a bear.

Melinda shy? Yeah, right! It won't take her long to warm up, trust me!

Patti, Amy, and Linda - Rob and I have swapped cell numbers, so when Mel and I get settled, I'll call him and we'll meet up with you guys. Our plane lands around 10:50, so it should be just about the right time to feed Melinda. Smiley

HECK YES, PEOPLE!

I'm in! Just tell me where. We are rolling into town around noon or 1 on Friday. Staying at the Emerald Suites about 3.6 miles from the Platinum. Melinda has my cell phone number, but Rob, we can exchange offline, as well.

I want to buy a Bullet Blender and protein powders before I go. Shakes in the hotel room for this one couldn't hurt. Anything I should know about packing all that happy stuff on a plane? How shall I tote my sugar free syrups?
Maybe we can find a grocery store so I can stock up a bit. I will pay gas money to whomever runs me around.
Thanks ahead of time for any ideas to keep me on track.

Others are probably better suited to this than I, as I've only traveled by plane ONCE with my potions and powders (and blender). I packed my blender and powders into my carry-on luggage -- which didn't go over too well. The blades...the baggies that look like drugs. Hmmm...So, perhaps you should CHECK those things, and then you won't have a problem? You could keep the protein powder in the original can, if you did it that way. Another option (which I quite like) is to ship a box ahead to the hotel. Of course, you'd also have to ship it back, so....not sure if that works for you. And, yes, Vegas has grocery stores ;-) But I don't know the lay of the land, so I'd be useless. Or, maybe one of the Vegas residents could pick up some goodies for you in advance? Like, you could send them money? I'm not sure...just a few, random thoughts. You could always pack Atkins Advantage bars, Revival Soy Chips, and stuff like that -- you shouldn't have trouble in Security with those! OR, you could also bring RTDs -- pre-canned shakes. If they are presealed, maybe they are okay? Again, you'd have to check...

If it's liquid, you can't bring it through security.

BUT, you can bring an empty bottle.. I'm bringing my water bottle empty and filing it once I get through security so I have water to drink on the plane. I happen to have a friend that works at one of the bars so I'll even be able to get ice... tho any of the food places may be wiling to give you ice.

For 2-3 days, not sure how much it would be worth messing with syrups and such, but you can get small food grade plastic bottles where you buy camping stuff.

I am bringing some dry powders, but they'll be in my checked luggage. Individual snack size baggies packed together in larger bag.
